Barcelona have completed the permanent signing of Senegalese defender Mamadou Fall from Los Angeles FC.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The 21-year-old centre-back spent the last season on loan at Barcelona B from the MLS side before completing a permanent move to the club ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. The youngster will put pen to paper on a two-year deal that will be valid until June 30, 2026.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Fall, who has also played for Villarreal, remained sidelined due to an ankle injury for almost half of last season and appeared in just 22 matches for the reserves side of the Catalan giants, where he managed to score twice and contributed with one assist.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID
The official statement from the Blaugrana on Fall's arrival read: "FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Los Angeles FC for the transfer of player Mamadou Mbacke Fall, who will sign a contract for two seasons, until June 30, 2026, with the option of extending [his contract] for two more years.
"The Senegalese central defender already played last season at Barca Atletic on loan from the American team. The official act of signing the contract will be pending."

WHAT NEXT FOR BARCELONA?
Hansi Flick and his side are currently in the United States for pre-season and will play their first friendly against reigning English champions Manchester City on July 30.
